A prize? Me? by Tina Poulsen

A  prize? Me? (another, closer look into the mirror)

“Gosh, I’m overdue for a haircut!”

I looked up the definition of Prize in the dictionary, well dictionary.com of course, I think my hard copy is in the scrabble box!  I found a few definitions that excited me:

  • Anything striven for, worth striving for, or much valued
  • Something seized or captured

I immediately think of what I’ve taken from the Enemy in the wars of my life. Growing up in a home broken by addiction, lies, and fear, the odds were stacked against me. My husband’s home was much the same; worse, really.

If the Devil looks in the window at our home, he sees what we STOLE back FROM HIM!

Two broken people, whose example of marriage was filled with lies, pride, and abuse, are committed to love, “break-my-heart-and-make-me-more-like-You, Lord” kind of love. Look in the living room & you’ll see two secure and healthy kids playing (okay, maybe fighting, but healthy and secure).
Oh yes, you tried to steal that health from us, didn’t you Devil? But the Lord RESTORED IT TO US!

What about you? Yes, you!

What have you TAKEN BACK FROM THE ENEMY?

What LIES have you combated with truth today?

What weapons formed against you DID NOT PROSPER?

Psalm 68:5,6,9,12,19 (NLT) gives you a picture of our God:

“5 Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—
this is God, whose dwelling is holy.
6 God places the lonely in families;
He sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
9 You sent abundant rain, O God,
to refresh the weary land.
12 Enemy kings and their armies flee,
while the women of Israel divide the plunder.
19 Praise the Lord; praise God our savior!
For each day he carries us in his arms.

Whether you’re a mom feeling like you can’t take another day that feels like Groundhog Day or you did your best & your grown children are making choices that break your heart, there’s a promise for you, His prize.

My suggestion is get on www.biblegateway.com & type in the keyword you need a promise to stand on. Write your struggle on an index card & write the promise from God’s word on the other side. Stick it on your mirror, keep it in your purse, put it on your dashboard, the point is rehearse it, believe it, stand on it!

Download Fred Hammond’s classic, “No Weapon

You, yes YOU are His prize!

Head into the enemy’s camp & take back what he stole from you.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper!

This reminds me of a song we use to sing at church:
I went to the enemy’s camp and took back
what he stole from me, took back what he
stole from me. HE’S UNDER MY FEET,
    UNDER MY FEET…
    Awesome Tina! What encouraging words!!

The Lord is good and I’m so thankful he is faithful and you have that beautiful family!!

  6. Tina, powerful & a great reminder to take back what the enemy has stolen from us, we are more then conquerers, we are our Daddy’s (heavenly Father’s) princesses & no one messes with His princesses:) “greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world”!
