Prize Profile: Sarah Peters

Tell us a little about yourself and who’s in your house.

My name is Sarah Peters.  I was born and raised in Midland, Texas. I am currently a senior at Texas Tech University and will be graduating this December with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Over the past six months the Lord has grown my heart and given me a passion for victims of sex trafficking. After graduation I would like to work with and minister to women who have been victims of sex trafficking. I currently live with two other girls who are great friends of mine and are also students at Texas Tech. They both love the Lord, and it is truly a blessing to come home to an encouraging, Christ-centered environment.

How long have you attended Trinity and in what areas are you involved?

I have attended Trinity for two and a half years now. I am actively involved in Trinity’s college ministry where I volunteer as a student leader. Also, I serve in Little Kidsplace in the Walker’s room on Sunday mornings.

What have you read and been listening to lately?

This summer I finished the book, Radical, by David Platt. This is probably the best book I have ever read. It is extremely convicting, but conviction is good a thing. Reading this book changed my perspective on many areas of my faith and has challenged me to live out my faith daily the way God intended. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I also recently listened to a podcast series over the Song of Solomon by Ben Stuart. He is the lead speaker for Breakaway, a campus Bible study at Texas A&M. This series is a great way to learn what God’s Word has to say about love and marriage.

One of our writing topics this month is “Dear Self”.  If you could, what would you tell yourself ten years ago?

Well, since ten years ago I was eleven years old, I would tell myself a few things. First, I would tell myself to enjoy being a teenager and don’t worry about what other people think. Secondly, I would tell myself to put my relationship with the Lord above all else – to be faithful to the Lord despite what other people think.

What is something you’re looking forward to this fall?

One huge thing I am looking forward to is graduating college! It’s crazy to think that this season in my life is coming to an end. With that, I am also excited to find out what exactly the Lord has in store for the next season of my life!

Hopefully, one day you and I will get to serve together on one of God’s divine missions on foreign soil. It is obvious that you have a heart for God’s world.
    Proud of you young lady!

Sarah, God will lead you as you reach out to the mission field of victims of sex trafficking. It breaks my heart when I read about the women and children who are caught in trafficking. I’m so glad to hear that you have a heart for these people. I have been on the mission field ministering to children with YWAM and Christ for the Nations. It was an awesome experience and I’ll never forget that. It gives you a whole new perspective on everything. I work at Texas Tech University now and God has placed me here to shine His light. We should get together for lunch sometime. God Bless and keep up the good work! Sherri
