I had a very personal experience with the Lord during worship recently. As I was singing, the words on the screen began to pop out and morph into different words.

The rest of the room was singing “Your Promises” by Elevation Worship, but I was singing my own song.

Instead of:

When the weight of the world begins to fall
On the Name of Jesus I will call
For I know my God is in control
and His purpose is unshakable

I realized my heart’s attitude was:

When the weight of the world begins to fall
On my name I will call
For I will be in control
and my purpose is unshakable

I felt the Lord say to me “how’s that working for you?” You’re relying on yourself. But what I have for you is more! Do you want to sing your song, or my song?

It changed my heart and really allowed me to repent and move to the proper place of worship. Surrendering me and my will and allowing God’s promises and plan to be ENOUGH for me.

Doesn’t matter what I feel
Doesn’t matter what I see
My hope will always be
In Your promises to me
Now I’m casting out all fear
For Your love has set me free
My hope will always be
In Your promises to me

As I walk into the days to come
I will not forget what You have done
For you have supplied my every need
And Your presence is enough for me

You will always be more than enough for me

I welcome you to join me – let us not just sing these words, but let us live them out today!
