So how are those RESOLUTIONS coming along? The month is almost over and there are a few that have been crossed off the list. I find myself hopeful as the seconds tick down to a new year… hopeful that there will be some profound change in direction or destiny that I could not have seen coming. It was hard to see 2018 come to an end for that very reason. God had redirected me and challenged places in me that were dormant. And even the things that I felt were dead and gone, God brought them back to life. I mean He is the God of the living!!!
So how do you know that it is God? I get that question quite often from women from all walks of life. Many who want to know whether they should move, change jobs, or begin a scary leap of faith towards the ministry that God is calling them into. There are some who are trying to decide if they should stay in relationships or how to navigate parenthood. And right there, in that moment of vulnerability, the question comes… How will I determine whether the decision I am making to move forward is really me or if it is the Lord?
When I weigh heavy decisions they are always bathed in prayer. We must have relationship with God in order to HEAR Him. Our relationship with God is cultivated through prayer and reading the bible. Nothing God will ever ask of us will ever be contrary to the Word of God. Begin to search the scriptures for banner verses to fly over your situation or season. And then reach out to godly counsel. Wisdom from a mentor or questions from a life coach can lead to great insight as well as encouragement. After you have prayed, aligned it with scripture, and talked it out with a trusted person, move forward. One thing I have learned over the years is that a moving ship is much easier to navigate than one that is anchored down. God has called us to journey, a movement into eternity. And that will require us to walk by faith and not by sight in a forward direction.
There is also another beautiful indicator within our decisions which is PEACE. When I obey God there is a peace that cannot be shaken. Even in the hardest decisions there is a peace that covers and shields from the enemy’s darts and arrows. Paul, when speaking about the full armor of God in Ephesians 6:16, says “with all of these, take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one”. So when we shield ourselves we become unstoppable! Our peace comes from the shield of faith that stops the enemy in his tracks!
There is hope in forward movement in our lives. Where is God calling you today?
Go in peace mighty woman of God…
