Are You Forgetful by Gloria Toti

Are you the kind of person who loses your car in the parking lot?  Or maybe your keys when you get home?

We’ve all done it more than once, and it’s a horrible feeling.  Standing in a lot looking frantically around or going aisle to aisle with basket of groceries in tow is quite embarrassing.  Let’s not mention tearing your home upside down looking for keys – MOVING RIGHT ALONG.

Busy minds can seem to make life difficult at times if we are not intentional.

But there are 10 things we don’t ever want to lose because life won’t make sense if we do.

I’m talking about the 10 commandments.  The ten words stamped upon each of our hearts by design from our maker himself.

Forgetfulness will not give us a pass in eternity when we give an account of our lives before our God, and I believe that if I was to ask Christians today to list the 10 commandments, I don’t know how many could do this simple task?

If that is you, don’t get embarrassed, open your Bible to Exodus 20:17 and start reading these words as if God was speaking them to you today because He wants to keep you safe.

And if you are one who knows them, how are you doing with the obedience part?

Before God gave these words to Moses, he had him tell Pharoah – let my people go that they may worship me.  The anthem for the people became – LET US GO.

I believe the same cry is in our heart today – LET US GO THAT WE MAY WORSHIP OUR GOD.

And obedience and freedom are tied to these 10 commandments.

They show us how to live holy lives as citizens of heaven while we dwell here on this earth.

The first commandment is the hinge – YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.

If we get this one wrong, life will not be complete.  There will always be a void in our heart.  Do you hear God asking for undivided allegiance?

50 days after the Israelites departed from Egypt as slaves, God is there showing up with instructions on how to live in his family and stay safe.

BUT IF WE KEEP READING, WE SEE HOW THEY QUICKLY FORGOT GOD WHEN TIMES GOT TOUGH.

I think too often, we fall into that same pattern of forgetting God’s power that is available to us every day.

God, we don’t want to forget how costly the deliverance was that allowed us to be redeemed back to you. Help us remember.

WE WANT TO REMEMBER AND THAT’S WHY WE ARE GOING TO STUDY THE 10 COMMANDMENTS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS IN OUR MORNING LIFE GROUP – WHO WANTS TO JOIN US?

We will meet on Thursday morning at 8:30 am in the chapel – it will be the best hour of your week, I promise.

If you are at work at that time, don’t worry, we also have a study for you at 7 pm that evening where we be studying – HOW TO READ YOUR BIBLE. WE ARE DIVING IN TO INDUCTIVELY STUDY GOD’S WORD.   Don’t let that fancy word – inductive – intimate you.  It just means we observe what God is saying then and what it means now. This all takes place on Thursdays beginning June 3rd – visit prize31.com for info on the new groups that help us connect with God and each other.
