FRIENDS, YOU ARE IN THIS LOVE STORY

In this world, there are many things that compete for our attention. It often starts before our eyes are focused for the day. Our minds begin to form a list of things to complete or accomplish before our feet hit the floor. Sometimes the list is loud and demanding and sometimes it repeats the defeat of yesterday’s list. The list invites us to press into things that may be important, but don’t matter most. That’s where this verse summons us to be mindful of eternal goals – the wisdom it speaks is not earthly. Leaving the mundane and reaching for the GLORIOUS.

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus
Philippians 3:14

In chapter 31 of the book of Proverbs, we see an amazing portrait of a woman on mission. Her secret? Loving God. She went after the PRIZE. This chapter’s admonition to us is to live beyond ourselves and live out God’s truth in this world. Speak out for justice, love others and stand up for the less fortunate.  Never forget that three are always thinking of one.

webster's dictionary has it right when it defines the word prize as: "anything taken from an enemy at war"
