Not often do I write a lot about my personal life – but this morning my heart is so filled with
gratitude that I cannot help but allow it to spill over. I hope it encourages and strengthens you
as well as brings God glory.
My husband, John, just celebrated his 90th birthday. He still ministers weekly at the jail; pours
out Godly wisdom; prays for anyone close by; is a wonderful husband, father, and a very
engaged grandpa; as well as beautifully maintains our lawn and landscape. God’s anointing
empowers him daily!
In a few months I will be turning 80. I am still called to organize and implement a very
impactful ministry bringing God’s Word, healing, restoration, and training to hundreds on a
weekly and monthly basis. I also minister weekly at the jail and, of course, being a wife, mom,
and “Mamaw” definitely floats my boat!
John and I are currently celebrating 55 years of marriage and ministry. We actually met as
volunteer youth ministers (seeking 1 st God’s kingdom) and have never stopped ministering
since.
Lest you think this sounds wonderful, trust me, we have had to navigate some very turbulent
storms along the way – storms through which our only hope was to hang onto the hem of HIS
garment tightly. You see, we had a choice: Do we blame God for the terrible adversities or do
we accept that bad things can happen to good people? Look to HIS promises. Trust HIM to
carry us through the storm and believe that HE will work things together for good?
I will admit there were seasons in which this was very difficult and we floundered. But we knew
there was no solution short of God’s divine intervention. That realization was what kept us
from letting go of HIS hem.
In the past few years, the waters have been pretty calm – and for that we are most grateful.
But we are also grateful for those many storms. It was through those struggles that our
character was strengthened; our ministry was born; and our children learned what it looked like
to take authority over the enemy and overcome adversity in God’s power.
We pray that our heirs, and the hundreds of people we have discipled over the decades, have
observed and been encouraged by this and will implement that same faith-filled, tenacious,
and persevering quality in their lives by the power of the Spirit of God dwelling in them. By
doing this, God will be glorified and others will be drawn to HIM!
Yes, we are SO grateful to be connected to the Real Source of power, peace, and prosperity and
that the Lord has given us the opportunity to share it with you.
