Identity Is More Than A Word by Victoria DeLeon

Let me tell you a story of a time when God pulled me out of a deep hole. How did I let myself get into that dark place? In today’s world, we can be consumed by the expectations of others. We strive to meet societal standards and please our friends, often losing sight of who we are meant to be.

Even though God has a unique plan for us all, let me remind you of Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” This verse speaks to my soul. We are God’s masterpiece! Think about that—you are a masterpiece crafted by the Creator of the universe.

Not only that, but He has prepared a path of good things for us to do. Long before we were born, God had a plan for each of us—a plan filled with purpose and promise. God wants us to drown out the noise of the world with His word. The word of God is referred to as the “sword of the Spirit,” an offensive weapon that helps us stand our ground against Satan. Ephesians 6:17 highlights the power of Scripture in our spiritual battles.

The word of God helps us know right from wrong, transform into God’s likeness, and walk in the fear of the Lord. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” If we let the world consume us, we forfeit God’s plan for our lives. The world’s expectations can be loud, but God’s voice can silence all the noise if we choose to listen.

Let’s fight for what God has called us to be, overcome the darkness, and shine bright for the world to see we are not backing down. 2 Corinthians 4:6 says, “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” This is our calling—to reflect His light in a world that desperately needs it.

Today, find your true identity and speak over your life that the good which was once lost is now found! He can do it for you.
