Last Days Parenting: Lessons from Noah

I’ve been thinking about Last Days Parenting for a long time, and I believe it’s important for every parent today. No matter when Jesus returns, we are closer to that moment than ever. This reminds us how urgent it is to raise our children well in these tough times.

In Matthew 24:36-39, we learn that people will be busy with their daily lives, just like in Noah’s time, when Jesus returns.

What was going on in the days of Noah? Things were really bad. Society was filled with violence and had no regard for God—every thought was evil. Sadly, this sounds familiar today, where morals are slipping away.

Yet, in this darkness, Noah stood out. Genesis 6:8-9 says that Noah found favor with God; he was righteous and walked with Him. In spite of all the evil happening, God chose Noah’s family to help save humanity. Today, God still wants to use families to uphold His purposes and plans. This is why the enemy hates families; he understands the power of God’s design for them.

What are some things that set Noah’s family apart?

1. They didn’t mind looking foolish. Imagine how they were laughed at for building a massive boat when no one had ever seen rain. For 100-120 years, they stuck to their mission by God’s command. Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow tired of doing good, promising we will see results if we stay strong. It’s inevitable; we will be mocked and jeered for doing things God’s way.

2. They didn’t fear the future. Although they knew God’s judgment was coming, they were convinced He would keep them safe. Isaiah 41:10 tells us not to be afraid, for God is with us. As the world gets darker, our families can shine brighter. This isn’t the time to shrink back in fear (Hebrews 10:39). Just like the Proverbs 31 woman, we can laugh at the future.

3. Noah’s obedience brought salvation for his family. Hebrews 11:7 (NKJV) says, “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” In these last days, God wants to save families, but it starts with someone willing to lead, just like Noah—someone who stands firm in their faith.

In the days of Noah, God chose to work through a family, and He longs to do the same with yours today. Let’s unite to build a legacy grounded in His truth, ensuring our families stand resilient against the challenges ahead. Together, we can navigate this season with unwavering faith and a clear sense of purpose.
