Friends, today we are going to pull back the layers of Jude 1:17, and I would encourage you to read the entire chapter later today. Jesus didn’t mince words when he sent this warning for us to be careful so I think we should listen to Him. The Holy Spirit knows what each of us needs to hear from the words He penned for this hour, so I will read and you can listen.
“But dear friends remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you,
‘In the last times there will be SCOFFERS who will follow their own ungodly desires.’ These are the
people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear
friends, by building yourselves up on your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep
yourselves in God’s love and as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal
life be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy,
mixed with fear hating even the clothing stained by their corrupted flesh.”
…WAIT are we to hate even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh? This speaks of a Holy God.
Now suppose Jesus is speaking those words directly to you face to face, what would you say? If you know me, you know questions are now coming your way because we can’t lie to ourselves that easily. The buck stops with us.
Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to impact your life?
If not, why not?
Does your life look different from someone who doesn’t know Jesus?
It should—God intended it to look different.
Do you know Jesus?
If you don’t know Him confess with your mouth that He is Lord and believe in your heart that He was raised from the dead for your sins and you will be saved. It’s not hard to get on God’s team.
Go look up Romans 10: 9-10 and pray that prayer. Follow your heart – it will be worth it.
You can say no to toxic lies. You can be wise and listen to what really matters.
Did you also hear the following words in that scripture: “save others by snatching them from the fire”
God is showing us there is another chapter to this life. It’s eternity. Snatch is a strong word. Do you need to be snatched from the fire this day or know someone who does? If so, surrender your heart to God this moment, or ask them if they want to surrender. Don’t wait.
See you next week as we discuss, John 14:16
