Matthew 24:37 says, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” What was going on in the days of Noah? Things were really bad. Society was filled with violence and people had no regard for God – every thought was evil. Sound familiar?
Yet in this darkness, Noah stood out. Genesis 6:8–9 tells us that Noah found favor with God; he was righteous and walked with Him. In spite of all the evil filling the earth, God declared, “In these final days, I’m going to use a FAMILY.” And that’s exactly what He did. Noah led the charge, and his family became instruments through which God preserved humanity.
What set Noah’s family apart?
1. They didn’t mind looking foolish. Imagine how they were laughed at for building a massive boat when no one had ever seen rain. For 100-120 years, they stuck to their mission by God’s command. Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow tired of doing good, promising we will see results if we stay strong. It’s inevitable; we will be mocked and jeered for doing things God’s way.
2. They didn’t fear the future. Although they knew God’s judgment was coming, they were convinced He would keep them safe. Isaiah 41:10 tells us not to be afraid, for God is with us. As the world gets darker, our families can shine brighter. This isn’t the time to shrink back in fear (Hebrews 10:39). Just like the Proverbs 31 woman, we can laugh at the future.
3. Noah’s obedience brought salvation for his family. Hebrews 11:7 (NKJV) says, “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” In these last days, God wants to save families, but it starts with someone willing to lead, just like Noah—someone who stands firm in their faith.
In the days of Noah, God chose to work through a family—and He longs to do the same with yours. Is it any wonder the enemy works so fiercely to tear families apart? He knows the power they carry when they walk in God’s design.
No matter how dark the world becomes, we can hold fast to God’s promises. As the return of Jesus draws near, let’s stand united and begin building the kind of families that—like Noah’s ark—can withstand any storm. We won’t be moved. We won’t be deterred. Together, we will remain resilient, steadfast, and anchored in God’s purpose in these last days.
