Flip The Script by Shawnee McClure

When I used to read verses like Psalm 139:1-13, “Where can I go to escape your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” (verse 7), I would fear being seen by God fully and all the things that I have done against him, all my thoughts that disregarded his holiness, or even my slothfulness in zeal towards God (Roman 12:11).

I imagined myself running, trying to hide or recoil away from God so that He wouldn’t see me, really see me, but then that he would always find me out and look at me with disappointment. That was a lie I built up within me, but this is the truth and the important part: God loves me fully for who I am. I see this truth of God now as it so clearly states continuing on in Psalm 139.

“I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous and I know this very well…God, how precious your thoughts are to me.” (Psalm 139:14-17)

Friend, receive all that Jesus died to give you, including fully embodying who you are, renewed in every moment by the interceding blood of Christ and moving forward to view yourself as worthy of being filled with the Holy Spirit, not because of who God made you to be, but because of who God made Christ to be within you and for you.

We have within us the authority to walk boldly in all circumstances because now that we know there is nowhere we can go, no circumstance we can find ourselves in that God will not be there with us also, we can rejoice! There is no corner of world, tragedy, or injustice where God cannot go. Let us boldly call upon the authority and power within us. Call upon the Holy Spirit daily to equip you, strengthen you, and encounter others from within you for the sake of his glorious praise.

Flip the script and stop thinking that there is no escape because of the things you have done or said. Stop looking at yourself as a disappointment. Flip the script and rejoice in God’s presence being with you in each moment of every day, everywhere you go, and in all circumstances, renewing you with each breath He fills you with.

Thank you, Jesus, for being enough because I know that I am not. Thank you for your Holy Spirit whom you’ve allowed to dwell within me. I know that you are for me and with me always. You alone are worthy and to you alone, God, do I rejoice. Continue to renew me, renew my mind, to think of you in all things and, Holy Spirit, help remind me that I can call upon you at all times. Start a revival with me, God. Revive this sleeping mind, body, and soul for your glory so that I may enjoy you always. You are lovely and lovely to me, always. Amen.
