One of the best pieces of advice I received after I gave my life to Christ was this: find a mentor — or two! I honestly can’t remember who told me that, but I’ll forever be grateful they did. Having a mentor in each season of life has been one of the greatest gifts God has given me. Whether they were cheering me on or lovingly challenging me to do the right thing, their presence has shaped me in powerful ways.
My mentors have spoken truth into my lifestyle, my decisions, and even the people I choose to spend time with. Through their guidance, I’ve been able to hear God’s voice more clearly. I can confidently say that mentorship has transformed my life in ways that are hard to put into words.
God calls us into community — but let’s be real, sometimes that community looks like dragging yourself to a coffee meeting with a mentor after a week full of conviction. And yet, those moments matter. Over time, I’ve learned that committing to godly community has been one of the most life-changing choices I’ve made.
The beautiful thing is this: we get to choose who we let speak into our lives. For so long, I thought I had to settle for whatever group was around me, even if I didn’t quite fit in. Truthfully, I often felt out of place among peers my own age. But through mentorship, I’ve discovered a deep, authentic community with people who have walked the road I’m on — and can help me navigate it with wisdom and grace. I want this to encourage you to take the next step and find the mentor or community you’ve been looking for!
