Where do you weigh in on the Target issue?
Of course, I don’t drink and that’s probably why you haven’t heard me say anything about the Bud Light Mulvaney partnership. Or maybe, I am still trying to take it all in.
How did we get here?
Well, that’s not a secret – we have asked God to follow us instead of us following Him. That’s how. Even though some in America think we are ready for our history to be rewritten. We are not.
BIBLICAL HISTORY TEACHES US VOLUMES:
There is a strong remnant that remains true to God and His ways.
God loves mercy and not judgement friends. He is long-suffering. He already told us what is best and what is not. We are not paying attention to His kind instruction, and neither were many way back in the time when Genesis 18 was being written.
In this account, we can almost feel God’s mercy toward His creation.
Let’s pick up in verse 20: “Then the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me.”
In that story of history Abraham was attempting to talk God out of destroying the cities if only ten individuals could be found following God’s ways instead of the lustful ways of the land. Could we really talk God in or out of something without repentance? No.
I believe God made it a point to show us how perverse sin can become.
Not even 10 individuals could be found. Sin is a spiritual cancer, and it will destroy a healthy person or a society if we let it.
The story continues into chapter 19,and we see the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed due to sinful sexual relationships the people thought were acceptable.
The historical context gives us evidence that homosexual behavior has been an ongoing part of society.
At times, it has been even more common that it is today.
WE WILL ALL COME FACE TO FACE WITH SIN AND TEMPTATION:
For millennia, men have wrestled with conscience as their flesh is tempted with same sex attraction, but something deep down in their spirit man is grieved, telling them, “This is wrong.” Where does that conviction come from? Who put it within us?
The conviction— the moral law of God— has been written on our hearts by God himself.
God wrote right and wrong on our hearts, and also shared his intent for mankind.
In Leviticus 18:21 we read: “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is perversion.”
Our creator loves us and wants us safe.
SELF-WORSHIP MAY NOT ALWAYS BE RECOGNIZED:
Self-worship is something the enemy tempts us with – he’s good at it since he’s been doing this for a long time.
We don’t want to make this a biological issue and fall into sinful lust and shameful sexual behavior.
Let’s remember we are also spirit beings.
