Are you the kind of person who loves rules because they make you feel safe?
Or are you the kind of person who feels trapped by rules?
No matter if we are rule-safety-goers or not, we all know life is better with order—chaos is not our true north.
Let’s be reminded that God is the one who called peace out of chaos in the book of Genesis.
What an incredible feat. Can you imagine His amazing power ordering chaos around like a puppet That’s what He did. Peace and order were declared over this earth, and the new landlords had arrived. Yet, many of us didn’t know darkness was on a leash. We followed the voice of this world and yet deep down we knew we were being dragging far from God’s kingdom.
Where was I Cor 6:9 when I needed it – and when you needed it. We didn’t know what it said.
We didn’t know these words, but our hearts did. God is always ahead of the enemy that tries to drag us to chaos or hell.
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetousness, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”
I think that scripture just reminded us how serious our sin is before God.
And yet God knows that many are stuck in SIN and don’t want to be there any longer. And neither did they when this was penned – but it gets better, here let me keep reading:
“And such were some of you.
But you were washed,
but you were sanctified,
but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
I love those words…
“And such were some of you” – we are all called to be in the AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU crowd worshiping God in His kingdom throughout eternity. What are you waiting for?
Friends, if you are feeling convicted, that is God working in your life.
We shouldn’t think that an individual who has committed an act of fornication or homosexuality act
(or any of the other listed sins) is automatically excluded from the kingdom of God.
Paul is describing what the end will look like for the ones whose lives are dominated and characterized
by these sins. God knows where our hearts are at.
And, just for the record – let me also make this clear: I am not saying an occasional act of fornication or homosexuality no big deal to God! Of course, it is a significant matter.
We can’t forget that a lifestyle of sin begins with a single act of sin.
