Frustrated? By Nita Kuehn

A number of years ago I had a significant dream. It truly set a path for the expansion of our
ministry. Today, I want to share one element of that dream that could benefit all of God’s
children.
In the dream, John and I had inherited a house of healing and restoration. The house needed a
lot of work, but a very strange thing was that each room had a utility sink in it. (Perhaps I will
share why in another blog at a later time.) I noticed that the sink in the living room was leaking,
so I went about frantically looking for tools to fix it. I was most frustrated, unable to find
anything that would work.
Surprisingly, when I returned to the living room, my mother-in-law, who was always a very
handy person, had already repaired it.
As the Lord began to unfold the meaning of every element in my dream, He came to the part
about the sink that needed repair. This is what I sensed He was saying to me: “Juanita, you get
frustrated when you are working outside of MY call and anointing, and your frustration spills
over onto those around you. When you take on projects that I have not assigned to you, you
are robbing others of working in the gifts I have given to them, rather than helping them fan the
flame I have placed within them.
Man, did that hit me between the eyes! I was the kind of person who tended to take on every
task I saw that needed attention. The result was that I was often both frustrated and
exhausted!
Were they good things that needed attention? Absolutely! But I never considered asking God
if I was the one who was supposed to take care of them. I just jumped right to the task. Hmm…
(I pray I am much wiser now).
Early this morning, as I was reading God’s Word, I was struck by the beginning of Psalm 119 –
one of my favorites. “You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road
revealed by God. You’re blessed when you follow His directions, doing your best to find Him…
Then I’ll never have any regrets, comparing my life with Your counsel…How can a young
person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of Your Word.”
Are you frustrated and exhausted? Perhaps you, also, have taken on tasks that belong to
others. You might be thinking – but who will do them if I don’t? Just consider – perhaps God
has a better plan – but I have not given Him the time or space to unfold it. Ouch!!!

Here is what I do know to be true: When I spend time in His Word, seeking His counsel, it saves
me a tremendous amount of time and energy – not to mention regrets! It is definitely a much
more fulfilling and less frustrating way to live! Try it, you’ll like it.
