“Who do you say I am?” This may seem like a strange question during the holidays. The question came in the middle of Jesus’ years of ministry, but it led to the climax of His story here on earth. Jesus came as the fullness of God, bringing His Kingdom to earth and shattering the power of sin and darkness through His arrival, life, sacrifice, and resurrection.
“Who do you say I am?” For Peter, it took special revelation and encounter with Jesus to unashamedly answer His question: “You are the Messiah.” (Mark 8:29 NIV) The Messiah was the long-awaited deliverer for ancient Israel, and, unbeknownst at that time, the Savior of the world. During this past weekend’s services at Trinity, Pastor mentioned that Jesus has over 200 titles throughout Scripture. As we eagerly await celebrating Jesus’ birth and anticipate His coming return, “Who do you say Jesus is?” How have you experienced Jesus in your own life? How are you praying for Him to reveal Himself to you this advent season?
