You Have What It Takes by Gloria Toti

There’s a quote from Lysa Terkeurst that I absolutely love. She says, “You have the exact qualities God knew your kids would need as a mother.”

I would go one step further and say that God actually put those qualities inside you, to begin with, and He placed you right here, right now, for such a time as this.  Even in 2020 with all the craziness, it includes.

In Acts 17:26 it tells us that God marked out our “appointed time and place” in history.

That means right here, right now you have a purpose. Your birth wasn’t some random act of the cosmos and the children God gave you weren’t random either.

GOD CHOSE YOU to be the “perfect” mother to your kids and God chose me to be the “perfect” mother to my boys  Nathan and Jonathan.

Does that mean we “get it” perfect all the time? No.

Does it mean we’ll never have questions, concerns, or maybe fears regarding our responsibility as parents and the welfare of our kids? No.

For many, this Fall may be filled with LOTS of questions or concerns.

You may even feel like I did when I sent my boys off to school for the first time. It felt like I was putting them on the first-ever manned rocket into space.

Sending them into the great unknown abyss without my watchful eye and hand of protection. And that was even during a time where there was no pandemic.  But you know what?  They survived and so did I.  They not only survived, but they thrived. Why? Let me read the full passage of Acts 17:26-27

“From one man God made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

GOD DID THIS SO THAT they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.”

God appointed your time and place… my time and place… and our kid’s time and place “SO THAT” we would seek him and find him.   As mothers, the absolute best thing we can do for our kids is to fall on our knees and seek God. When we seek him, we will find him.   I love the end of that verse… “he is not far from any one of us.” He is just waiting for us to call out to him.

Call out to him when you are happy, call out to him when you are scared, call out to him when you have questions.  Your prayers matter. Your prayers make a difference. Your prayers can quite literally put a thousand to flight according to Joshua 23.

Why?… “because the LORD your God fights for you, just as He promised.”

Just as we as earthly parents fight for our kids to be safe and succeed, our heavenly Father fights for us.  He puts us in situations where we have the opportunity to grow and succeed as we call on Him.

In the midst of everything that is going on in our world right now, know this… God purposely chose this time and this place for you to be the perfect mom to your kids because according to 2 Peter 1:3…

“Through his divine power, he has given us everything we need for life and godliness.”

Call on him. You won’t be disappointed.
