World Events and Your Mental Health by Gloria Toti

Did you know the Greek word for “anxious” means to separate and/or divide.  Everything in life is influenced by oneness and separateness.

We all have experienced that the more negative we feel, the more separate we feel. And we have experienced the opposite—the more connected you feel the more positive you will be.  Think about how a team that is divided is disconnected and powerless vs the team that is united is connected and powerful.

If this applies to a team, think about how it impacts our own individual lives as well?

Surely, we all have experienced that when we feel a sense of oneness, connection, and unity, we feel strong.

And we all know what it is like to feel separate from ourselves and from others and the flood of emotions that makes us feel disconnected, negative, and very weak.  This morning I read a report on the news of how this generation is dealing with an onslaught of mental health disorders and the underlying feelings of being isolated, disconnected, alone and very separated.

We were hard-wired to matter to other people and our souls know it very very well.  People are not to be used as an experiment, and I feel that is what happened when we placed young people in the media ecosystem where they are bombarded with bad news over and over again. Per the report, social and political issues were strong contributors, and I get it.

I feel for this generation that is looking at the future for their kids and deep down we all know it’s  not the same world we grew up experiencing.

“One thing that came up in the data was the amount of frightening news … There’s this feeling like the world is falling apart.”

We need God in our world, and hope in our souls.  Without it, people become collateral damage.

God placed purpose inside of our hearts, and if we don’t have purpose we are not emotionally healthy and we aren’t experiencing the abundance of life Christ came to give us.

We are filled with anxiety and fear.  Friends, those are spiritual in nature.  We can’t fight them on our own.

 Philippians 4:6-7

 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by

prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,

 let your requests be made known to God;

 and the peace of God, which surpasses all

understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”

That scripture proves to us that God is able to take us from our natural world to a supernatural world.  Friends, continue to learn how to cast your cares on Him.  I will do the same,  and I will do the same because the things we are facing are way too heavy for us. Let’s find peace!
