Don’t Throw Yourself Away Like That by Gloria Toti

Sex is not just sex!!!

Do you believe relationships are only skin deep and really don’t matter much?

Are you tired of moving from person to person or thing to thing to find happiness?  I had.

I remember the ripping away at skin in my heart I didn’t even know existed.  I quickly learned that relationships mattered, and you think I would have immediately signed up for the God-lane after that. I didn’t.  I ran harder toward the things of the world, and splintered my heart some more.  I was lost without a life map.

Let’s think about how God is the creator of love.

He chose to love us even when He knew we would rip away at His heart tissue by trying to live life on our own terms.

He knew many would love Him and want to obey Him right away, and many would come a little later like I did.  He took the risk to create us believing we would choose peace over chaos— it would just be a matter of time.

Our souls were made for God’s spirit.  It’s up to us to stop running away from the thing that makes sense.

God alone knows how our souls work and what they need:  Romans 3:21 reminds us of who we are and who He is:

“Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.”

I call that winning the spiritual lottery right there.

Society is trying hard to replace our souls with self, but our souls need spirit has much as our lungs need air.  Spirit is not cheap.  No earthly thrill will suffice our spiritual soul longings.  No relationship on this earth, whether heterosexual or homosexual will be able to fill that god-gifted space in our hearts reserved for our creator.

It’s a love that is not found on this earth.

All humanity has fallen short of the standards of God.

We are all equally sinners.

It is confession of our sin that allows our hearts to find rest.

Thank you for not giving up on us God.

Join us next week we will dive into this love conversation as we look at – I Cor 6:9
