Sold Out By Nita Kuehn

Yes, that item high on my list was no longer in stock. How frustrating!

What could I possibly do to find another – or would I have to recalibrate and change the direction of my desires?

In 2020/21 we found ourselves doing a lot of that.  We stood in lines for toilet paper; searched for cream of chicken soup; and waited for the next shipment of disinfectant wipes.  Oh yes, we got very creative in finding alternate solutions!

Today – many things have returned to normal on the store shelves – but what about in our lives?  How do we recalibrate and change the direction of our desires?  In all this chaos, how do we find a healthy new normal?

The WORD actually gives us that answer.  No, it doesn’t say anything about “easy” but it does give us a very clear plan to follow.

A great place to begin discovering how to navigate life successfully is in the book of Proverbs.  The very first proverb says it this way:  (TPT)  vs 1  Here are kingdom revelations, words to live by, and words of wisdom given to empower you to reign in life!  (I don’t know about you, but that sentence really excites me!  If I am going to recalibrate – this is the plan I want to follow.)

Want to guide your children into leading a full and successful life?  Try vs 4:  These proverbs will give you great skill to teach the immature and make them wise, to give youth the understanding of their design and destiny.  (How awesome is that?)

Perhaps you have aspirations of becoming a great leader:  (vs 5) For the wise, these proverbs will make you even wiser, and for those with discernment, you will be able to acquire brilliant strategies for leadership. (I love the idea of becoming brilliant!)

Maybe marketplace ministry is your calling:  (vs 21)  Yet wisdom’s song is not always heard in the halls of higher learning, but in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  (I don’t have to be in the church to experience or to reflect Christ!)

Sometimes, simply living in confidence and peace is most appealing:  (vs 33) But the one who always listens to Me will live undisturbed in a heavenly peace.  Free from fear, confident and courageous, you will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life. (Woohoo!)

My wonderful friends, there is no better way to recalibrate and change the direction of your desires.  Start with reading the proverb of the day.  (31 days in a month – 31 proverbs in the Bible)  Don’t stress over missing a day.  You can catch it next month.  But you will be absolutely amazed at how quickly godly wisdom helps you recalibrate and change direction.  The rewards are HUGE – “empowering you to reign in life!”  And God is never “sold out” when it comes to the endless wisdom found in His Word.
