So…Let’s Go by Gloria Toti

What are you hungry for?  If I’m honest, I would say potato chips.
This week, I received a diagnosis of being pre-diabetic.  What?  That’s crazy.  How can that be?  I like to think that I eat a fairly healthy diet.  Truth be told, I am forced to eat somewhat healthy due to some terrible food allergies
But to stay sane, we all must indulge in some fun treats every now and then.
I used to do just that with a little yellow bag called Lay’s chips.
They are salty, crunchy, and over-the-top yummy.
Well, as of this week, that little bag and I will not be dating as often as we do.  Doctor’s orders. It’s very sad when our bodies don’t recognize that that is your bad snack of choice as in it brings me encouragement.
So, how will I fair?  I’ll learn a new rhythm of re-thinking what I am putting in my mouth.
You see, I have a choice to make.  I can continue doing what I have been doing, or I can change courses before I am forced to and life become miserable because choice will be removed from the equation.
I know that self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, yet this fruit is still maturing in my life…
Yet, I’ve lived life long enough to understand the difference of getting to do something that is better for me than having to do it when things are worse because I simply ignored it.
Try doing that with your car – and then get ready to fork over your vacation funds to fix the thing you thought would go away.
I am telling myself these words:
“This is my temple, and I have the power to steward my health well.”
I know the Lord will help me, and I will continue to flourish. I will warn you in advance, there will be weak days ahead.  If you happen to see me cheating, give me grace.  I know I am going to having wrestling matches with my tongue in the grocery store – muscle memory is forceful in times like these.
Deep down I know this new plan will be a great blessing in the long run.
This is the scripture I am holding on to:  Psalm 107:8-9
Let them give thanks to the Lord, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things…
I trust God will fill all the places of my heart and my belly…and He will do the same for you.
