This Is The Way

In the Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, the main character often responds with the phrase, “This is the way,” as a declaration of his commitment to not departing from the creed and bylaws of his covenant people.

“This is the way, walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21

The prophet Isaiah says we will hear these words also from a merciful and compassionate LORD.

“Therefore the LORD is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the LORD is a just God. All who wait patiently for him are happy.” – Isaiah 30:18

We aren’t just supposed to hear from God which way to go, but we are also expected to do as we are directed as a declaration of our commitment to Him.

This scripture also tells us that the LORD is waiting to show us mercy. God knows we will make mistakes and waits to extend his mercy to us and show us favor as a reminder that He is God and we aren’t expected to be.

Following after Him and staying committed to God’s Word by saying, “This Is The Way,” sounds easy enough, but we know we have all been challenged by impulse, societal or cultural demands, and seeking to be enough for others and have fallen short at times from declaring and following the way of Jesus Christ.

But this is the beauty of grace in Christ. He knew then and knows now that we will never be enough, that we won’t always get life right, and that we need Him. So, God waits to show us mercy. He is also willing to show us the way in which we should walk through His holy scripture and with guidance from the Holy Spirit.

“If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” – Galatians 5:25

By this great mercy and love from God, we can then also love. Let us not forget to love ourselves also through the love of God which we have received and continue to receive daily. We cannot hate who God has created us to be while knowing that God loves us.

“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

Let us walk in the way of love towards God, ourselves, and others which God has both spoken over us in His Word and shown us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By seeking this way, the way of love first, we will follow in suit of the other ways God calls us to walk in.
